MandiChildren's Librarian for the Coeur d'Alene Library Hello and happy fall! This week we are talking all about autumn. We will be making nature bracelets, which are available for you to pick up at the Coeur d'Alene Library. Here are the instructions: Nature Bracelet Instructions: You can create your nature bracelets in two different ways! Nature Walk Bracelet Start by peeling the paper backing from the foam sheet. Wrap the foam sheet around your wrist with the sticky side facing out. Overlap the ends to make a bracelet. Now you are ready for your walk! With a grown-up’s help, go for a walk and stick the different beautiful things you find to your bracelet as you find them on your walk. You could choose autumn leaves, green grass, herbs and flowers, even small sticks! Use the bracelet to talk about your walk when you get home. To preserve the bracelet, you can sprinkle cornstarch on the sticky parts that aren’t covered by your items. or Nature Art Bracelet Before putting on your bracelet, start by gathering the beautiful items you want to put on your bracelet. It could be leaves, flower petals, herbs--anything you want. Then peel the paper backing from the foam sheet. Wrap the foam sheet around your wrist with the sticky side facing out. Overlap the ends to make a bracelet. Now you are ready to create your art! Place the beautiful items you have gathered on your bracelet and admire the art you have created! To preserve the bracelet, you can sprinkle cornstarch on the sticky parts that aren’t covered by your items. Worksheets This week's extension activities are all about fall. Go on a texture walk around your home or out in nature. Discuss opposites, sense of touch, and vocabulary words on how things feel. The other worksheet is designed to help your child practice counting and writing numbers. You can pick up the worksheets at the library or download them here. Here they are in both PNG and PDF format:
